Title: RRR School contest
Location: Fashion Industries High School
The goal of this project/contest was to clean up our school so it could be sanitary and healthy environment for our students and faculty. As well as win prize money to help our school economically. We had made various teams such as storyboard artists, writers, photographers, and a graphics team. I was apart of the graphics team. I had thought up the idea of making a comic book inspired project. Everyone told me it was a great idea, and went along with it. Since we couldn't use already established characters [X-MEN!!] due to copyright laws we had to make out own. So I asked one of my friends to draw a sketch of my ideal female character, and she did. Then I scanned it and digitally colored it and added all the graphics on to it, as you can see above. We called this character "Recycling Renee" In conclusion this was our logo and because of it we won the RRR apple award and $7,000 dollars!! I was so happy!

Title: Self-Portrait College/Words Project
Location: Fashion Industries High School

We where given these tools: A magazine, a pair of scissors, glue and a white piece of construction paper. We were told to create a self portrait out of those tools and then we would submit the portrait along with a poem that was written based upon it for a contest. I never thought I'd win...my teacher didn't either she told me it was too depressing and dull. I guess the proved her wrong didn't I!!! Now my work is displayed at two galleries:

- Self Portrait collage and poem chosen by ARTifacts to be displayed at their gallery.
[Check It Out!! at Diane von Furstenberg Studio - 385 West 12th Street, New York City, NY.

- My artwork was chosen to be on permanent display at the office of the Superintendent of Manhattan High Schools in the hallway outside of room 336 of the building.
[Check it Out!! at 112 Amsterdam Avenue - New York, NY]

the poem that I wrote with it:

Black, White and Grey
Blankness in the pupils that set the face that greets others.
Two contrasted ways of living, creating a world not worth living.
Friendly eyes -- hiding many lies.
Pushing back advice, being hard headed and never thinking twice.
Loneliness covers the rising star, trying to glimmer through the cries.

Title: Nintendo Contest - SHiNE: Mock entry
Location: Manhattan, NY
SHiNE asked me to create a mock entry to use as a sample for a contest they are having with Nintendo. I had to incorporate SHiNE, my community and Nintendo. I began to draw, and then once that was done I scanned my work into my PC, where then I used adobe photo shop 6 to add color. I'm proud of it. (click on the image for a larger view)

What I had to do:
"What I'd like you to do is create a *mock* entry..." - ". . . We’d love to include it on the promotional page for this contest. Of course, we’ll give you a credit as the designer." ~ Tangie of SHiNE
